A Blessing of the Animals

The Blessing is less about us blessing the animals and more about recognizing the blessings they have given us—their love, loyalty, and companionship. Everyone is invited, regardless of when their loss occurred or how it occurred.

We will share what our pets mean to us, what we have learned from them, and we will ask for health, safety, and love for ourselves and our beloved animal companions. Your animal friend doesn’t need to be physically present; having them in your heart is all that matters. But we do ask that you bring a photograph of your pet to the Blessing if you have one.

I can never walk among the animals, either spiritually or physically, as I do during the Blessings and will do during this season of St. Francis and beyond, without feeling a profound peace. I feel I am being blessed by them.

Brothers and sisters, hear me, please. Loving and animal and being loved by one is gods gift granted us by the Creator of all things.
